I have just returned from a cruise on Silversea to Italy, Sicily, Montenegro, Croatia & Venice, my third cruise with that company. They are simply the best, so I don't need to elaborate. That part was completely predictable. However, I took an extra day in Rome, prior to departing & since my time was so precious, we decided to hire a private guide. I used to be in the travel industry & Giovanni was recommended by two of my old friends that still are in travel. Giovanni proved not only to know his stuff, but love it as well, sharing his passion for art & history with us. Not only was he knowledgeable, but welcoming, so we felt as if we left with a great tour & a friend. We were luxuriously motored in a Mercedes & treated to great sights & recommendations. If you have a short time in Italy (who has enough time) make the most of it & enjoy it with the help of someone who loves what he does.
